Jingxuan Wei / Vincent

Mathematical thinking.
Financial impact.

Mathematics postgraduate at CUHK with internships across quantitative research, bank technology risk and insurance finance. I use Python, Spark/Hadoop and machine learning to turn complex operational and financial data into decisions people can act on.

About

Rigorous models.
Practical decisions.

I combine quantitative methods with a working understanding of financial operations, controls and technology risk.

I work at the intersection of quantitative modelling, data systems and financial operations — with a bias toward clear assumptions, measurable outcomes and practical delivery. My experience spans insurance finance, bank technology risk and quantitative research — giving me both the analytical toolkit and the operational context to work across middle- and back-office teams.

Selected work

Six projects. One bias: make complexity usable.

From quantitative research and distributed data systems to optimisation and applied AI. Each case study focuses on the problem, my contribution and the measurable result.

Experience

Finance, risk and research — seen from the inside.

Three internships across insurance finance, bank technology operations and quantitative research.

Finance operationsControlsExcelReconciliation

Finance operations, expense controls and monthly close support.

  • Processed 1,200+ accounting vouchers and 800+ invoices/receipts, maintaining reconciliation across ledgers, vouchers and physical records.
  • Reviewed 600+ expense claims against policy, returned 30+ non-compliant claims and created a standardised review checklist for the team.
  • Supported three monthly closes and investigated 50+ general-ledger versus sub-ledger variances using Excel PivotTables.

Technology risk, change control and IT internal-control reviews.

  • Triaged 10,000+ daily IT operation-log entries covering approximately 1,000 servers across Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Reviewed 300+ monthly change requests against approved scope and maintenance windows, flagging unauthorised changes and tracking remediation.
  • Monitored 200+ high-risk CVEs against internal SLAs and performed 60+ configuration baseline checks against the bank’s ITMP policy.

PythonQuant researchEnsemble MLBacktesting

Systematic trading research, feature engineering and ensemble modelling.

  • Independently researched a multi-factor timing strategy, coding and backtesting Bollinger Band, ADX and EMA signal rules.
  • Built a stacking ensemble combining XGBoost, LightGBM, Random Forest and LSTM with decision-threshold optimisation.
  • Used grid search and K-means clustering of SuperTrend performance to support adaptive parameter updates.
